Great, Fast, Cheap, 10/28/2009

Owning a business in Santa Barbara is expensive. When that business sells only one product at $1.40 each - and they thrive, then they must have a great product. I love their adobado tacos. Their Lengua and cachet are worth a try, good, but a bit mild for my taste. Sb.com should give them an award for best tacos if they haven’t already! I go there at least 1-2 times a week! There is one thing I hate about this place tho, their closed on Tuesdays (lol).

The food is delicious here. I've been searching for a long time for a good Mexican restaurant in Santa Barbara and I finally found one. Unlike other Mexican restaurants in SB, Lilly's is inexpensive, has fast service, and great tasting food. I always value food being true to it's roots, and Lilly's definitely takes me back to the little taco stands in the streets of Mexico. The atmosphere is not all that great but the food makes up for it! For first timers, I definitely encourage gathering your courage for trying some of their unique meat parts like lengua (tongue) or cachete (cheek)!

Being mexican and eating it all my life, I have to say these are some of the best tacos i've ever had. Great service, cheap price and tasty meat with no fat. All the produce is delivered fresh every day thanks to those great guys from "FLORES PROVISIONES". Must try if you're in SB.

lilly's food is delicious and cheap. the person at the register is always super friendly. the tacos ALWAYS taste consistently perfect. they are mouth watering and full of flavor. not many ingredients (unless you do the right thing, and pile on cilantro, onions, lime, radishes, and hot sauce) but it's the perfect mix of flavors. you can ask for grilled onions and peppers, at no extra charge. those are REALLY GOOD on the tacos too. I suggest when ordering, to get 1 of each taco, and when your eating them, have fun trying to figure out what kind of meat each taco was. my personal favorite is the lengua... fatty, but not TOO fatty. mmmm now im hungry just thinkin about it!

threw down three quick fabulous authentic tacos with some business associates who swore by the place, and have passed the word on to my SB pals. They are enroute. Real Deal.

they have the best variety of tacos. they are the best tacos i've ever had. i think i take everyone i've ever met there at least once. i also eat there at least once a week. lilly's definitely deserves the praise it gets, but i hope that doesn't increase their prices. they're that good also because they are so cheap.

Lilly's is reliably good. Since it's a pay and pick-up operation, there's no service to rate, but the folks are always friendly and helpful, and the cooking top notch. Exploring the variety of tacos at $1.35 is a blast. Nice sauces, onions/cilantro, limes, radishes, etc. They've expanded, so there's plenty of sit-down room in this tidy little downtown taqueria in addition to take-out.

Two fresh tortillas, mounds of succulent meat, and a great salsa bar all for $1.35. Ask and they'll give you a big plate of grilled onions and peppers gratis! Friendly folks that keep the place nice and clean.

I lived in Mexico for years, and this is authentic! It is the only place in town that has less than 1.50 dollar tacos! You can get it all...for the conservative eaters- pork, beef, and for the Latino-puros at heart- the other things most gringos wouldn't eat although you should because it is a real treat. I take my coworkers and surprise them by ordering a ton of different tacos, and letting them guest what it is...they are always surprised, saying, "I never thought I would like it, and I do! They come back each time!"

Just like the taqueros in E.L.A.!

I am rating the service 5 stars for being so FAST. We got our food right away even though there was a long line. My mouth was watering while waiting. I had the carne asada tacos loaded with radishes, a splash of lime, chopped onions + cilantro, topped off with red chile. MMM...You just can't find tacos like this anywhere else in SB. I'm from L.A. and this totally reminded me of the taco stands in my old neighborhood. I am going to be come a regular here. Also, love that they take Visa here!

One of SB's best little secret spots

I can't get enough of these great tacos, and you can't beat the price. The staff is always smiling and happy to see you (even the cooks in the back!), and the recent expansion just makes the atmosphere that much better. The food is always speedy and consistent (the Adobada is a dangerous addiction). I strongly recommend it, just try to keep it a secret for me.

I don't know which is my favorite, but I've tried everything except the Lip (gonna do that soon). But everything else is delicious! Don't let your mental be afraid of the strange ones..they are all so flavorful, and look just like regular meat (eye, head, cheek, tounge..mmm)..topped with a few squeezes of lime, couple slices of radish, cilantro, onion and my favorite green hot sacue you can't go wrong. You can get 4 tacos and a drink for 7 bucks! Authentic, fresh, fast and a fun staff to round it out' for all the taco lovers ouit there you can't beat this unique taco stop. Thank you Lily's!
