Chicken Soup Rocks!, 10/30/2009
Reviewer: Art

Once when I was horribly ill, a friend brought me Little Alex's chicken soup. I've been hooked ever since. Now every time I get even the slightest case of sniffles, all I can think about is their chicken soup to go.
When you order, they'll ask: mild, medium or spicy. I normally like my food very spicy, but in this case medium is hotter then hell. Ask for chiles on the side and you can add to suit.
I cant remember if I've eaten anything else here, but the other food on the menu looks good. It's a little bit of a dive, but so are some of the best Mexican food places I've ever eaten.

Nice Server, Food just not there, 6/18/2009

To me the sign of a good burrito place is that they have black beans as an alternative to pinto beans which always makes things taste better. Even with the Hearty Salsa the burrito was just not there. Plus for all you can drink sodas out and a nice view of the golf course with nice seating. Server was nice and food came out quick.

I love the Chicken Soup. Whenever I get a cold I crave the stuff. I get it with chili's added and it always make me feel better! The Chili's make me breath again and the cold is gone much sooner! The chicken Chimichanga is yummy too! Great Guac, Sour Cream and Salsa! Yum Yum!

Consistently great!

I love Little A's, as the locals call it. Consistently fresh and always served hot. I love that it is essentially a fast food restaurant, but with sit down quality. The chips and salsa are my favorite and I often serve them at my home for guests. One of the few small town, local spots left. And, yes, it is California Mexican quisine...for more typical authentic quisine made with lard and mostly fried, we can go elsewhere in SB, but I will stick with Little A's!

Great food! Service inconsistent
Reviewer: Regina
from Santa Barbara, CA
The food at Little Alex's is great! Their salsa is the best in Santa Barbara, bar none. And I love their homemade chips--we often pick them up to bring home and make our own nachos. We also love the variety of meats. If you like spicy, try the chile colorado or the chile verde--they are wonderful. If you like REALLY SPICY, go for the chipotle chicken.
When the owner is there, the service is great. She knows all of her customers by name and greets everyone with a smile. Her other staff, however, could use training (in customer service skills and basic service skills). The good news? THey do take-out! So order to go, pick it up (ready in less than 10 minites) and head to the beach!

no taste food
Reviewer: Mike

Absolutely no taste what so ever. The weirdest tostada, called "grande" and on a small plate, dull lettuce, one tablespoon of cheese, store bought chips on the bottom, small sprinkling of tomatoes. No taste. No salt, no seasoning, no nothing. Could not eat it, ordered a relleno and soft taco plate ($10.00 !!) and it also had no taste. White rice with weird orange coloring, no flavor, beans with no seasoning, no sauce on the relleno, mush ball taco with grilled chicken also without seasoning. The kid behind the counter who took our order was so nice, smiling, pleasant and suggesting variations, so that was a plus.. The salsa served with the chips (straight out of a bag) was just weird cold tastless tomatoes, also some green type salsa that just tasted of rank cilantro. The soup with the canned chicken broth and frozen peas and carrots is bizarre. I walked away hungry ..Advice: Get a new cook asap who knows how to season food, lower prices to something acceptable, and try tasting your own food before you serve it. Keep the sweet kid behind the couner.
